Your Victory Garden Counts More Than Ever! – Hubert Morley (1945) – Patriotic WWII Poster Print

Created in 1945 by American illustrator Hubert Morley, “Your Victory Garden Counts More Than Ever!” was produced near the end of World War II as part of the United States government’s nationwide Victory Garden campaign. Even as Allied victory approached, Americans were encouraged to continue growing food at home to support troops overseas, reduce pressure on commercial agriculture, and strengthen wartime self-sufficiency.

The poster uses a bright, optimistic composition centered around oversized vegetables (peas, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and radishes) rendered with clean, almost modernist forms and vibrant color. In the background, small figures tend neatly planted rows, reinforcing the idea that ordinary citizens could contribute directly to the war effort through everyday labor and food production.
