David Klein’s New York – Fly TWA transforms the city’s most recognizable landmarks into a bold, almost surreal celebration of New York. The Statue of Liberty dominates the composition, her monumental head and crown rising behind a fantastical arrangement of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, Federal Hall, and other architectural icons. Klein renders the landmarks in saturated oranges, blues, purples, and greens, giving them the appearance of an elaborate illustrated collage rather than a conventional cityscape. A sleek TWA aircraft cuts across the scene, while the enormous Gothic lettering of “New York” and the vivid red-and-blue TWA logo reinforce the poster’s unmistakable Jet Age character.

Klein was one of the defining artists of TWA’s celebrated travel-poster program, creating a distinctive visual language in which destinations were represented through energetic combinations of landmarks, color, architecture, and movement.
