Created in 1919 by renowned illustrator Howard Chandler Christy, “The Spirit of America – Join” was produced for the American Red Cross in the aftermath of World War I. Christy presents an allegorical female figure draped in flowing white garments and framed by the American flag, combining imagery of liberty, sacrifice, and compassion.
