Yellow Red Blue (Jaune Rouge Bleu) – Wassily Kandinsky (1925) – Art Deco Canvas Print

Wassily Kandinsky’s Yellow Red Blue is a dynamic exploration of color, geometry, and movement, bringing together luminous fields of yellow, red, blue, pink, and violet with circles, rectangles, diagonals, grids, and sweeping black lines. Rather than depicting recognizable objects, Kandinsky creates a visual language in which color and form interact almost like musical elements. The composition balances dense geometric structures with areas of open space, giving the painting an extraordinary sense of rhythm and movement.

Painted in 1925 during Kandinsky’s Bauhaus period, Yellow Red Blue reflects his increasingly systematic approach to abstraction. Geometric forms became central to his work at the Bauhaus, where he explored the psychological and expressive relationships between colors and shapes. The result is a landmark of European modernism, combining vivid primary colors with precisely arranged geometric elements and expressive, sweeping lines.
